Attendees at the first ever international horse racing convention will have the chance to win a trip of a lifetime. Thanks to a sponsorship by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, a "Lucky Draw" sweepstakes will be held at Equestricon, in which someone will win a trip for two to the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races this December.
The ability to capture the greatest moments in horse racing history in words that will be encapsulated for generations to cherish is the everlasting gift that race callers give to the sport. The best race calls of all time are remembered almost equivalent to the performances of the actual champion race horses. The track announcer is tied to these legendary horses and races for years to come.
“Equestricon is a modern day way of thinking in racing,” said [Stacie Clark-Rogers]. “I think in this day and age the accountability of the stewardship of horses is important to show that we care about our horses. You want to say, ’yes, we take care of the horses after they’re done racing.’ I think this modern day fan wants to know that. I think it’s important to recognize that social expectation is that we are conscious of the stewardship of the horse.”

“The accessibility [at Equestricon] to really get to the people that are such key figures in the sport is unprecedented,” Lusky remarked. “I can’t ever remember an auction taking place where the actual connections to the memorabilia are there to talk to fans about it.”
As a lifelong racing enthusiast and advocate for fan involvement in the sport, Lusky can’t wait for festivities to kick off at the inaugural convention.
I didn’t go through all of this not to even try. So, try I did – straight tri in fact. I played Arrogate over California Chrome over Hoppertunity... So it goes in racing. But hey, we live for the thrill that this sport and these animals provide, and I now have the bad beat story that every gambler loves to tell and everybody who knows him has to hear dozens of times. To me, there are two main factors in determining that a bias is useful. First, is it at least based in some kind of fact? Anyone can come up with a theory and support it dogmatically, but no matter how hard I may try to convince you that the moon is made of cheese, you can always just tell me to take a bite of moon-rock and prove me wrong.
It’s cliché, I know, but horses are not just lines on a piece of paper or numbers on a saddle cloth. Horses are living, breathing animals that have their own personalities and tendencies, and sometimes replays can provide an angle that all the number-crunching in the world can’t. As Warner Wolf would say, “let’s go to the videotape!”
