“Equestricon is a modern day way of thinking in racing,” said [Stacie Clark-Rogers]. “I think in this day and age the accountability of the stewardship of horses is important to show that we care about our horses. You want to say, ’yes, we take care of the horses after they’re done racing.’ I think this modern day fan wants to know that. I think it’s important to recognize that social expectation is that we are conscious of the stewardship of the horse.”
Visit The People's Horse and Taylor Made at Equestricon™!
Owning a racehorse is one of our oldest, most celebrated traditions, but high costs, an insular industry and a host of other reasons have prevented generations of new fans from enjoying one of life’s most thrilling experiences. To change that, we launched The People’s Horse, a new project that fuses digital crowdsourcing, interactive media and old-school horsemanship, and allows anyone the experience of horse ownership. With California Chrome as our stallion and Taylor Made Farm as our partner, we’re building a growing community that can help raise our foal to be
Man O' War Project Important for Veterans & Horses
“Horses and veterans have a shared basis. Horses are prey animals and they are very fearful of their surroundings. Their expertise is to identify and respond to threatening cues in the environment. This also is what’s going on with people with PTSD, especially veterans, who are coming back to post-deployment life.

Lelands Auctions to Bring Racing History to Life at Inaugural Equestricon
“The accessibility [at Equestricon] to really get to the people that are such key figures in the sport is unprecedented,” Lusky remarked. “I can’t ever remember an auction taking place where the actual connections to the memorabilia are there to talk to fans about it.”
As a lifelong racing enthusiast and advocate for fan involvement in the sport, Lusky can’t wait for festivities to kick off at the inaugural convention.
BCBC: A Missed Hoppertunity
I didn’t go through all of this not to even try. So, try I did – straight tri in fact. I played Arrogate over California Chrome over Hoppertunity... So it goes in racing. But hey, we live for the thrill that this sport and these animals provide, and I now have the bad beat story that every gambler loves to tell and everybody who knows him has to hear dozens of times. Sorry in advance to all of you when you hear this from me again.
BCBC: Maybe I'm Biased
To me, there are two main factors in determining that a bias is useful. First, is it at least based in some kind of fact? Anyone can come up with a theory and support it dogmatically, but no matter how hard I may try to convince you that the moon is made of cheese, you can always just tell me to take a bite of moon-rock and prove me wrong.
BCBC: "Let's go to the Videotape!"
It’s cliché, I know, but horses are not just lines on a piece of paper or numbers on a saddle cloth. Horses are living, breathing animals that have their own personalities and tendencies, and sometimes replays can provide an angle that all the number-crunching in the world can’t. As Warner Wolf would say, “let’s go to the videotape!”
